The Wine road

The Loire Valley offers its visitors a great number of wonders, so many, that it has been listed in 2000 as a UNESCO World Heritage for its central district, as a living cultural landscape.


While wandering through the 800km of the Loire Valley, you get to discover some extraordinary landscapes, shaped by river Loire and its tributaries, as well as chateaux, troglodyte caves, wonderful gardens…


Driving, hiking or cycling, follow one of the 7 signposted trails through the vineyard:


  • Discover the historical sites : starting point in Panzoult (AOC Chinon)
  • Stroll through the Coteaux du Layon: starting point in Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné (including AOC Savennières, Quarts de Chaume, Bonnezeaux, and Anjou)
  • Between vines and windmills: starting point in Beaulieu-sur-Layon (AOC Quarts de Chaume)
  • Between vines and city: starting point on place des Ardilliers in Saumur (AOC Saumur-Champigny)
  • Over the Cher Valley: starting point in Pouillé (AOC Touraine)
  • On the banks of River Loir: starting point from Lhomme panoramic viewpoint (AOC Jasnières and AOC Coteaux du Loir)
  • Between vines and gardens : starting point at the Vallères Stadium (AOC Touraine Azay-le-Rideau)
  • And also many more signposted routes from other towns in the vineyards.



The Loire Valley has a production of several sorts of wines: rosé, white, red, sparkling… It offers such diverse terroirs that one may find as many as 69 appellations.
