Leonardo's life

Leonardo was born in Vinci on April 15th 1452 and died in Amboise on May 2nd 1519.

Known to be a painter, he was also a scientist, an engeneer, an anatomist, a sculptor, an urbanist, a botanist, a musician, a poet, a philosopher and a writer.


Leonardo da Vinci is often described as a symbol of the Man of the Renaissance, a universal genius, a humanist philosopher.

Many authors and historians consider him as one of the greatest painters of all times and some of them as the most talented person in several fields.


Still nowadays, his paintings and many inventions fascinate the world and are the center of regular exhibitions


Every year, thousands of visitors come and visit the tomb of this universal genius, situated in the Chapel Saint Hubert, within the Royal Chateau of Amboise.
