Chateau of Cheverny

History

The Chateau of Cheverny is located 15km from Blois. The chateau is remarkably preserved, with genuine organization and furniture.

Cheverny hides many other secrets such as the 17th century Gobelins tapestry presented in the armory or the Boulle chest of drawers designed under Louis XIV.

Situated 15km from Blois and 18km from Chambord, the chateau of Cheverny is worldwide famous for its hunting traditions and its odd resemblance with Moulinsart, Captain Haddock’s dear castle. Hergé, Tintin’s drawer mostly drew his inspiration from Cheverny, where a permanent exhibition is dedicated to his art.

But the characteristic feature of the chateau of Cheverny lies in its splendid interior decoration, which has hardly changed since it was made in the 17th century. It has been furthermore magnificently taken care of by the family Hurault, who has owned the castle since its construction.

Cheverny stands in the heart of a large park, which is also worth a visit, filled with gigantic cedars and other rare varieties.
