A glittering city
Christmas in Amboise, it is the opportunity for all dreamers, young and old, to go back to their childhood and feel again the amazement that we all felt as the celebrations got closer. The old town illuminates every night with hundreds of twinkling tinsels, from Place Michel Debré to Place Saint Denis and Tour de l’Horloge. A forest of Christmas trees magnified by a green and red sound & light greets the visitor as he wanders within the old narrow streets. At sunset, the riverbanks witness the wonderful illumination of the Amboise royal castle.
Between traditions and light show
Inside the castle, the walls come to life! Lili flowers and angels dance in whirls of lights and colors for the enchantment of both young and old visitors. In the Council room, by the crackling fire, an amazing Napoli nativity scene presents, next to the traditional figures, a village scene full of very funny characters! Close your eyes, and listen up… You could nearly hear the voice of the angler negotiating his best catch with the fish poacher, watched by the town’s cats. In the 19th century apartments, the Christmas tree is ready, the family socks are hung on the fireplace, and some presents are already waiting at the foot of the tree.
Da Vinci’s table
In the Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci welcomes his guests in a mansion magnified by wonderful vegetal creations. The great staircase looks like a rainforest and takes you to the dining room, by a red-twinkling tree. At his foot, a few gifts and boxes are already there, promise of future joys, under the friendly protection of Leonardo’s mechanical lion (in case some of you would try to open up a few presents before D-day!). In the kitchen, candied fruits, spices and poultry are already out on the table. In the end, you are the only ones missing to start and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year! So, when do you come?
