The promise of a great family evening

On our last vacation day in beautiful Amboise, we booked tickets to the Sound & Light show at the Royal Castle. It was for us a chance to discover a castle under a different perspective, since we had seen so many others during our stay.

We had a nice dinner on the lively castle’s square, and then passed the castle’s ramparts. We were guided to our seats facing the wonderful Renaissance palace; the kids were so excited since we had told them that there would be horse-riding knights fighting during the show!

An enchantment for the eyes

As night fell, we were taken for over an hour in the middle of the Renaissance period, with some magnificent illuminations enlightening the outline of the castle. The characters wore some beautiful historic costumes, and the battle and horse-riding scenes galvanized the show. The children were amazed by the action, and captivated by the story, just like my husband and I! We found out with great interest about the French history and the reign of King Francis I.

At the end of the show, the actors invite the audience to join them on stage. We were thrilled to meet and congratulate them and admire their costumes and weapons! We took some very beautiful photos as souvenirs. We will certainly come back to the Loire valley to carry on our castles discoveries, and will surely visit the Amboise palace inside!
